Deadlocks for Unit Doors

October 1, 2015

Current Fire Laws only allow 2 types of deadlocks for Unit doors which are either Lockwood 001 or Whitco Deadlatch. The reason for this is the locks are designed to give quick exit if there is a fire. These deadlocks are designed to be free to turn on the inside when people are home.(top: Lockwood 001, bottom: Whitco Deadlatch) Being a 24 hr Locksmith I often attend to customers who are locked inside as they do not have the correct type of deadlock.
